The company GLASSTAR Nenačovice was founded in the year 1996 as small family Glass Work.

The concept of the factory is the small-scale production of art glass (the factory does not produce glass for the wholesale market) with the intention of direct sale of unique pieces in an own showroom. A few specialized crystal shops in the centre of Prague buy our products regularly and we export part of the production to several countries. The rest of our goods is sold in our shop at the factory side. At present, the factory produces about 200 different articles, e.g.: various coloured hand made decorative glass items, various animal figures blown or hand made, coloured glass fruits and vegetables, toffees and sweets, vases blown or stretched, fruit trays, dishes and bowls, ashtrays, baskets, candlesticks, bells, coloured goblets and cups, paperweights, pyramids and hexahedrons, various flowers 40 cm, 50 cm long and even longer ones and many others.

The factory produces on a continuous process 7 days a week. The furnace is heated by propane-butane gas. It has three different chambers and there are ceramic containers inside each chamber where three types of raw glass are melted (pure glass, green glass and blue glass). During the day, the raw glass is melted at a constant temperature of 1200°C and during the night the furnace keeps a temperature of 1350°C in order to prepare the melting for the following day. We melt only raw materials like glass granule and sintered glass because of ecology. Solid glass is never used as a raw material. The molten glass is a first-rate lithium-barium crystal. Other colours are obtained by mingling pure crystal with different coloured powders and frits specially made for this purpose. To obtain the final shape of each object, the process should undergo either blowing or giving shape by hand or with the use of a mould. When shaped, each object should get cooled down so that the tension inside the mass of the glass is diminished to reduce the risk of cracking. This cooling process is done in a computerized furnace at the temperature of 500° C during a certain period of the time and then all the objects are cooled down further at room temperature till the following day. After cooling process, each and every item passes through a strict quality control and thus articles like fish, flowers, etc. are finished. The other, like vases, paperweights, goblets, pyramids, etc., undergo hand-cut, refinement and polishing processes. Complete articles are then thoroughly washed, dried and packed in boxes. Thus our products are ready to be sold in the factory showroom or to be sent directly to our clients.
